I've come to the conclusion that I'm entirely too anal about having clean topology... even when my mesh will never deform. It must be some form of OCD that I end up spending hours upon hours pushing and pulling verts and creating new edge loops. I need to just crank something out and if I want to clean it up later that's ok.
